The Homer Community Library was founded in 1971 by the local girl scout troop and staffed by volunteers until a tax referendum was passed June 4, 1974. Through its membership in the Lincoln Trail Libraries System, the library is able to offer a wide variety of materials and services to the 1,300 residents of Homer and has doubled in size since its opening.
