While a select few rush to build data centers across the country, we keep an index of the original data centers: U.S. public libraries. That's 6,070 U.S. public libraries, open to all.
More states added as we index them.
Public libraries have been the country's actual public infrastructure for storing, indexing, and freely distributing data since 1731. They run on tax dollars, communities, librarians, and card catalogs, not water-cooled GPUs. This site is an inventory of that infrastructure.
